Workshop: Designing The Leadership Requirements of The Future
Empathetic, adaptable, creative, entrepreneurial, virtual ready….
Over the course of 2020, the skillset required of leaders has changed rapidly, and they are under more pressure than ever to perform. Managers hold the keys that organisations need for success – engagement, strategy implementation, resilience – but current leadership models are designed to be rolled out in circumstances that look nothing like the ones we find ourselves in today.
As the needs of businesses continue to change, how do we make the shift from trying to fit employee populations into models, to developing framing devices that allow leaders to follow a more agile path?
This two-part session will explore the role of HR as “curators”, guiding leaders to make confident informed choices rather than following prescribed processes. Using the coaching literature as an example, delegates will examine where on the journey they are in their own organisation before creating a blueprint for moving from set models to guiding principles.

Workshop: Adapting Capability-based Workforce Planning
The ability to pivot quickly hinges on the capabilities of your talent. Though we can’t know the exact future requirements of our businesses, we can predict which skills will need the most investment to stay future-ready. How can you ensure your organisation has those skills identified and ready to deploy? Organisations are beginning to structure around skills and competencies rather than specific job roles, enabling their talent to fulfil requirements when and where needed.
This requires an update to the fundamentals of career and workforce planning – both in mindset and logistics. During this presentation and workshop, we’ll explore how to begin creating the frameworks to redesign your architecture around skills and competencies. What does this mean for the practicalities of organisational design and growing internal mobility? How can we create a blueprint for culture of flexibility and change expectations around linear career paths?
Adam Gibson is a global leader in Workforce Planning, People Analytics and Organisational Design; popular keynote speaker and author of Agile Workforce Planning. He has successfully implemented and transformed workforce planning and people analytics in businesses, across both the public and private sector; he advises boards to create a sustainable workforce that increases productivity and reduces cost.
