It is important to recognize the systemic inequity in almost all aspects of life and society. This seeps into our corporate world just as easily. The only method to diversify the workplace is to include varied, diversified points-of-view on different topics.
The new norm of the corporate world has made it evident now more than ever that an equitable and diverse workplace not only increases employee productivity, but also proves to be an incentive for employee retention.
Dr Arti Agrawal is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Data and Electrical Engineering at University of Technology, Sydney. She also serves as the Director of Inclusion, Diversity, and Involvement at Anthony Nolan. She was on the Board of Directors at the Optical Society of America, overseeing comprehensive EDI reform.
