The coronavirus lockdown has totally transformed so many aspects of our working lives and the relationships employees have with their organisations. Arguably, the most seismic and definitive change to the world of work is the widespread adoption of remote working.

Businesses have done a great deal to adapt to this new way of working. HR leaders bear the responsibility of ensuring that this change is adopted successfully in the working relationships and person-to-person processes upon which their businesses run. But oversight on the part of HR could result in serious damage to the most crucial aspect of an organisation’s relationship with its people – trust.

In the absence of co-location, many businesses have already resorted to micromanagement, increased productivity monitoring and in some cases, even spying.
