Ram Charan issued a stark warning on the need for developing high quality leadership and skilled people to ensure companies are successful.

He warned that failing to ensure leaders at the top of an organisation were the right ones with the right skills would lead to the business failing.

Speaking at the European HR Directors Business Summit, Charan said: “Please note companies don’t die, leaders let them die.

“If any companies anywhere have gone broke, it is those key leaders who missed something somewhere.”

He urged HR leaders to ensure that they had experiences within different parts of the organisation and that high potential talent was also able to experience working within HR.

This has become common place as career development plans in several major multinational corporations.
