Prioritizing wellbeing and feeling good

by KPMG | Employee Benefits

Discover the key to a happier and more fulfilled workforce through prioritising employee mental health and wellbeing. In our recent survey of HR leaders, it was found that 85% have significantly increased their focus on employee wellbeing in the past 2-3 years. Looking ahead, 53% of respondents plan to prioritise further improvements in this area. However, only 28% currently rank the capability to deliver on these initiatives as a top priority, indicating the need for improvement and a greater emphasis on employee wellbeing.

Why this guide?

To truly excel in prioritising well-being, it is crucial to understand the nuances between mental health, mental ill health, and overall well-being. Gordon Harold, Professor of The Psychology of Education and Mental Health at Cambridge University, provides expert insights into these distinctions and their implications for HR functions.

Employee well-being initiatives:

  • Starbucks: Prioritizes staff wellbeing through longstanding initiatives, such as offering shares and including mental healthcare in the Employee Assistance Plan (EAP).
  • AIB: Establishes an internal network of wellbeing advocates throughout the organization, ensuring a comprehensive approach to employee wellness.
