4 Ways to Attract and Retain Great Employees

by Workhuman | Talent Development

Despite the economic devastation brought on by the Pandemic – an event which forced 4.8 million Europeans into unemployment in the second quarter of 2020 – the competition for top talent is now fierce.

Unemployment figures in many European nations are falling, with some sectors – notably, healthcare, pharmaceutical, tech and logistics – facing acute shortages of skilled workers.

To compound the challenge, we are now witnessing the Great Resignation, with more and more employees tempted to look for new roles. Indeed, the September 2021 Workhuman® IQ International Survey found that 38% of full-time employees in UK, Ireland and North America intend to look for a new job within the next 12 months. In a similar survey conducted in 2019, before the Pandemic, that figure stood at just 8%.

It’s clear that finding and retaining highly qualified workers will remain a key challenge for the foreseeable future.
