As companies around the world postpone face-to-face contact and mandate employees work at home in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), virtual workplace learning has become a critical priority for businesses everywhere. McKinsey observes that nearly 100% of in-person programs have been canceled in Europe and parts of Asia through June 2020, and roughly two-thirds of that figure across North America.
Despite the challenges presented by global uncertainty, businesses cannot afford to put capability-building on hold. Whether the goal is to reskill employees or facilitate company-wide transformation, leaders don’t have the option to pause critical learning — even as they rush to put employee safety first.
