Welcome to your HRD Connect update!

Ahead of The Economist’s Pride & Prejudice event later this month, we take a look at challenges faced by members of the LGBTQ+ community at work, and what exactly business leaders can do to help. When you consider that it’s 2018 and over 25% of gay, lesbian or bisexual employees in the UK do not feel confident enough at work to be openly who they are, it’s incredibly alarming. In addition, according to Stonewall, 42% of trans people are not living entirely as their preferred gender because they feel it could directly impact or threaten their job. How can we change these attitudes?

To remain competitive today, organisations need to remain nimble and flexible to meet the demands of a disrupting environment and competitive landscape. Ahead of the HRD Summit EUHRD Connect interviewed speaker, Jean-Christophe Font, Chief Talent Officer at Nestlé and discovered how Nestlé defines future talent pools, their biggest challenges and how vital an ever-developing skillset is for everyone in the organisation.

In a regular new series, HRD Connect speaks with leaders from all different industries about their working day. In our latest feature, we spoke with Katie George, EMEA Tech Campus Lead, Amazon. Katie talks career highlights, a hatred for cooking and the need for open and honest working environments for all.

As ever, join the conversation and tweet us at @HRDCommunity or email me at [email protected].

I hope you enjoy the features.

Best wishes,
