Building an inclusive culture at Johnson & Johnson

Wanda Hope, Chief Diversity Officer at Johnson & Johnson was the keynote at the recent HRD Summit/Europe, she spoke about the importance of building inclusive cultures within organisations. Hope shared what true inclusion means to all the employees at Johnson & Johnson and why diversity has always been crucially important to her personally.

“The fight for equality and fairness is just as important today as it ever was.”

The world of work is changing

Demographics have played a large part here as members of the Baby Boomer generation start to retire and digital-native Millennials and Generation Z increasingly take their place, bringing their own characteristics and preoccupations to bear. The sheer speed of digital innovation has also had a big impact, generating all kinds of organisational and economic shifts and often leaving older, more traditional businesses struggling to keep up. When should we expect these changes to take place?

Living the organisational’s values

In a regular contribution series, Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors In People (IIP) will discuss areas of leadership and people development needed within overall business. In his latest article, he talks about the importance of companies living by their own values and influencing others to do the same.

“Before leaders have the chance to lead by example, the actual process of devising and implementing a distinct set of organisational values has been proven to be a powerful driver of employee satisfaction and business performance.”

– Paul Devoy
