With employee experience at the forefront of modern business conversations, there has scarcely been a better time to refine talent management and workplace culture.

Dina Alvarez, Head of Culture & Talent, Everis UK, sat down with us to talk top trend predictions for the new decade. Dina also takes the time to share her advice for talent management professionals who are looking to make significant changes in the new year.

With HRD Summit UK right around the corner, we also look ahead to Alvarez’s greatly anticipated Talent Management masterclass, Defining Your Company’s Magic. During this session, Alvarez will be exploring key areas such as the war on talent and organizational transformation, and showing attendees how they can “tap into the magic moments” in their organizations.

What will you be sharing with the HR community at the HRD Summit UK 2020?

I’m going to be talking about creating a differential employee experience.  This includes how to identify the moment of truth in the employee journey, how to define a tailor-made employee journey map, and how to have a positive impact on the employees and beyond the company. At the end of the day, I think that the best shortcut to enlarge our business, is to empower our people and expand their positive experience.

What do you think are going to be the big trends and talking points in talent and culture in 2020?

I think that there is a lot of buzz around the use of technology in talent management and culture. The new decade is going to be marked by the technology, but I think that the new decade is also a human era, and a human era will need a human touch. So, I think that the key thing is going to be going beyond analytics and technology to create the best employee experience. For me, it’s going to be the opposite of the trends we have now.

If there are any talent management professionals out there who are trying to make a change for the better, what would be your number one piece of advice to them this year?

For me, the first one is to run a good diagnosis. Take your time, talk with your people, listen to your business and see what is happening outside of your company. Secondly, think outside of the box and generate a transformative experience for your employees. It’s better to do fewer things and make a huge impact than a lot of things with a small impact.

Finally, are you excited about appearing at the HRD Summit UK in Birmingham next week?

I’m excited because I was there last year as an attendant, but this time I will be a speaker. I was inspired by a lot of amazing professionals last year and I would love to be at least half as good as them!

Dina’s masterclass, entitled Defining Your Company’s Magic: Turning on the Magic for Your People and Living it Throughout the Employee Journey, will be held on Wednesday February 5th 2020 at HRD Summit UK from 13:55.
