After the huge success of the HR Distinction 2018 Awards in Birmingham, which saw a wealth of HR and business leaders in attendance, the HRD Awards made its move to London for 2019. Moving to the capital allowed us to host even more of the HR ecosystem, with more travel options available, a 5* three course meal for all of our guests, as well as world-class entertainment.

Rachel Montgomery-Young, Portfolio Director, HRD, introduces the HR Distinction Awards 2019

The awards celebrated the great work done in the last year by HR professionals across the country, giving out gongs to a whole host of teams and individuals who have transformed their organisations with their innovation and dedication.

The HR Distinction Awards’ partner charity was Heads Together, an initiative spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which aims to change the conversation about mental health in the UK, and is doing incredible work to make that happen. Andrew Overin,  Head of Philanthropy, The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, made a heartfelt speech to the audience before the ceremony about the work Heads Together is doing, and thanked the Awards and its attendees for their donations.

In addition to awarding the HR rock stars of the last twelve months for their incredible work and raising money for Heads Together, the night also played host to a hilarious stand-up set from best-selling UK comedian and star of 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Rob Beckett, who also served as compère and handed out the prizes throughout the evening.

Rob Beckett had the audience in stitches during his pre-awards stand-up show.

After a mind-blowing meal and a hilarious stand-up show, the awards began.
