In today’s ever-changing marketplace, skills are becoming even more critical than ever before. Is formalising workforce training the answer?

Embedding formalised training can be a challenge for organisations, with resistance to change or additional costs that formalising training could bring.

It is widely regarded that training staff enhances workforce morale, retention and motivation, increased productivity and efficiency. However, what about formalising the process of workforce training rewarding staff with a formal qualification, can this have added benefits for both organisations and their employees?

Staff are one of businesses main assets, those organisations who invest in staff often see the rewards multiple times over. Formalising in-house training has many benefits for organisations, which can ultimately improve business profitability.

Qualifications can be used to both reward and further develop staff, which in turn can make attracting new staff to an organisation easier. Rewarding staff can be used to positon the organisation as a supportive place to work, an organisation committed to helping staff achieve their full potential. Developing existing talent within organisations reduces the costs of recruitment.

Staff retention

Retaining staff, particularly ones which have the potential for further career progression within the organisation, helps foster an internal culture where other staff believe they too can excel in their role. Making the commitment to invest in staff highlights a pledge to them which fosters positivity, builds trust and lets them feel valued, working together for success.

The aim of giving staff a formal qualification is that the outcome of the training is consistent with business needs. Formalising the training ensures that the organisation can tailor the training and skills workforce get to meet the needs of operation now and future. Staff qualifications allow the assessment of skills and benchmarking of skill levels to provide a solid indicator how well trained staff are in comparison to competing organisations in an industry or sector.

In addition, a qualification created specifically for an organisation can gain a competitive advantage for the business.

The organisation is not the only one who benefits, the employees being put through the formalised training also benefit.
